So if you haven't heard, there's a new OS2008 Release; codename Diablo.

The main feature of this upgrade being that for future upgrades, you will no longer need to flash your tablet... awesome!

I've currently upgraded and things seem a little faster, the new integrated email is quite speedy and i'd pretty much take it over claws-mail hands down... if i could get it to connect with my work email addy.  The only downside thus far is that it looks like not a lot of the apps have been ported to the Diablo repos, a few of my favorites being...

*omweather
*pidgin
*ssh (i think there isn't a diablo version...?)

And to boot, adding the chinook repos to your application catalog, and installing can cause some major errors.  I installed openSSH from the chinook repo no problem.  I installed omweather from it and everything goes to hell when i try and run setup.  So i'm not sure if it's safe to use this old repo or not... any thoughts?

If anyone finds some repos with some good ports of heavily used applications, please post 'em! .........................

For those upgrading and absolutely NEED the old apps, you can add the line "chinook diablo" in the distribution line in "maemo extras" repository, and everything should show up.  I installed pidgin fine... but still have yet to use it, i'll be testing it out later today downsturrs though. .........................

Welcome to backports my friend.

I think I might try to upgrade in the next couple of days. I will want to get around to booting off SD too....

Do you happen to use the RSS reader. Does it function any better? .........................

So, I FINALLY upgraded a few weeks back. Also finally got around to restoring all the settings, data, symlinking, etc. Man I'm glad I posted all that shit here, would have sucked to start from scratch!

Now I'm on the over-the-air updated train, so I shouldn't have to do all this stuff ever again. w00t! .........................
